Being Silly | Get Messy Art Journal 4

This is our fourth week with the get messy art journal challenge. My son was looking at the duct tape my father bought him. He kept telling me “Minions are so silly, Mommy.” So we opened up the tape and started adding it to our art journal and chose the theme of Silly for this week. Also, it’s the last Thursday of the month so I’ve included my page on this month’s prompt.

First Page for Week Four

This page I created on my own after Emmett helped me add some minion tape to it. It contains one of my favorite quotes about letting silliness into our lives.

“Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans. It is lovely to be silly at the right moment.” – Horace

Second Page for Week Four

This page we actually prepared first with the tape, a recycled brown paper bag, and white paint. He loves dragging the brush around on the paper. While it was drying I worked on my page and he read a book. Wednesday while he was practicing writing he said he wanted me to help him write silly. Which was the perfect addition for his page in our get messy art journal. So he helped me glue it in and hold the pen while I wrote a journal entry on it for him.

This has been our most fun and messy journal week yet. Looking forward to the weeks to come.

Prompt for July
Plan a Fun Party!

Every month there will be a prompt to create a journal page around. And this month the prompt is “Plan a fun party!”
My grandfather is turning 100 years old next month so we are going to have a big celebration for him. The party is themed around an old fashion soda shop & diner. We have a guest list of 60 friends and family, catering, a DJ, and more. Everyone is bringing stories about him to share, laugh, and fill his birthday with all the great memories we’ve had with him in our lives thus far.
Happy Birthday Doc.
