Welcome to Pinecone Grove’s Blog – a wildlife learning hub for kids and parents. My blog is an extension of my shop – an expedition outfitter for kids and parents founded in 2013. I wanted my brand to be more than a store. My goal is to connect with earth-conscious parents and their kids while we explore and preserve Earth’s wildlife. Our mission is encourage families to live earth-friendly lifestyles through exploration, education, and preservation.
The expedition outfitters for families on-the-go…
Hello Explorers! I’m Ashley, Expedition Leader here at Pinecone Grove. For those who are new to the grove and others who have been around for a while, I’d like to share my brand story with you.
It all started in the midst of my favorite season: autumn. My son and I were exploring the trails near the house, collecting leaves, acorn caps, and pinecones to create with. At the end of the day, I started surfing the net for eCommerce sites. I must have read a few dozen articles on which one is best and most of them contradicted the other. Needless to say, it took me a while, about a month to finally start a business.
The first year was pretty bumpy. My brand, products, marketing, and business knowhow had a lot of growing to do. Thanks to almost three years of help from other small business owners and lots of mistakes, I’ve grown my idea into a brand.
Let’s create a world where the environment doesn’t need protecting.
Wildlife is very important to us. That is why we work toward greener living, improving our backyard wildlife habitat, and saving up to help our favorite wildlife charities. You will find these ideas incorporated in my brand.
For every 10 Pinecone Grove orders, I donate $25 to a nature fund. I keep an updated list and goal tracker on the footer of this blog. All products are packaged and shipped in recycled boxes bound with biodegradable tape. Shipping labels are printed on recycled paper. Thank you notes are written on recycled materials. Furthermore, my business card is a stamp used directly on packaging and other recycled materials. I love being earth friendly, and I’m always looking for new ways to go green.
Take school outside. Or bring outside, inside.
We don’t like to stay cooped up inside to learn. That’s why I take school outside on miniature expeditions with my son. Our outdoor learning experiences inspired FieldCards™ – my signature product. These learning tools are printed on 100% recycled paper, fit in little explorers’ pockets, and feature nature lessons on life cycles, natural phenomenon, space fundamentals, and other science studies. Explorers can pack them in their field bags for quick reference on adventures or, use them in their notebooks during indoor lesson plans.
